Color Palette Generator From Name

Type a name, keyword, brand or hex code and generate a color palette in about a second. Lock the swatches you want to keep, reshuffle the rest, and export the result as CSS variables, a Tailwind theme, a gradient or a PNG. For a single hue turned into a full Tailwind 50–950 scale, use the Tailwind color palette generator. Building for WCAG AA/AAA or a colorblind friendly color palette? Start with the accessible color palette generator guide, then verify pairs in the contrast checker.

What makes a good AI palette generator prompt

The generator responds to meaning, not just keywords, so the more specific your prompt the more distinctive the palette. A single adjective like “blue” gives the AI almost nothing to work with beyond a hue, and you will get a competent but forgettable scheme. A phrase that implies a place, a material and a time of day — “fog over a fishing harbour at dawn” — constrains lightness, saturation and temperature all at once.

Brand names work well because they carry accumulated associations. Character names and film titles work for the same reason. If you already know one color, paste its hex code instead of describing it: the generator will treat it as fixed and build the remaining four swatches around it using a real harmony rule rather than guessing.

Finally, remember that a palette is not finished until it passes a contrast check. Run your background and text pair through the color contrast checker before you commit it to a design system. Color palette generator FAQ

How does the color palette generator from name work?

Type any word, brand name, character or theme and the AI maps it to a hue family, a saturation level and a lightness range, then builds a five-color harmony around that anchor. Because the mapping is semantic rather than random, "arctic research station" and "tuscan bakery" produce completely different results.

Can I generate a color palette from a hex code?

Yes. Paste any hex code such as #6d28d9 into the box and the generator treats it as the locked base color, building a complementary, analogous or triadic scheme around it.

How do I keep one color and regenerate the rest?

Click the lock icon on any swatch you want to keep, then press Generate again or hit the spacebar. Locked colors are passed straight back into the next generation, so only the unlocked swatches change.

How many colors are in each palette?

Every palette ships with five colors by default, which covers a background, a surface, a body text color and two accents. That is the smallest set that can drive a complete interface.

Do I need an account to generate color palettes?

No. Generating, copying and exporting are free and anonymous. An account only unlocks saving palettes to your own collection.
